Chicago High School Fit Score

Chicago High School Fit Score

A free school fit score spreadsheet of Chicago Public Schools high school programs for ninth grade, scored by how well each fits what matters to your family.

Please include your ZIP code. It is how we make sure we found the right building. You do not need to enter an apartment number.

We use your home address to measure distance and to find your neighborhood high school on the district's map. We delete it when your spreadsheet is built, or if it can't be built.

What matters to your family?

Choose at least one Important factor so we can score programs for you.

When the district has not listed a detail for a program, we treat it as unknown. We do not guess, fill in a value or score it as a miss.

How much does distance from home matter?
How big a school would you like?
Which themes or focuses interest you?
What kind of school would you like?
Do you need early drop-off?

We mark a school when the district lists a drop-off time at or before 7:30 AM. Ask the school what it offers.

Do you need after-school hours?

We mark a school when the district lists after-school hours. Ask the school what it offers and how to sign up.

Does it matter that a school lists bilingual services?

We mark a school when the district lists bilingual services for it. Ask the school what the services are.

Which ways of getting to school would work for you?

We mark a school when the district lists a bus, El (train) or Metra line for it. The district sets its own bus rules, so ask the school whether your teen could ride.

Which languages would you like to see in classes?

Only some schools list the languages used in classes, so this factor will not fit many programs.

Your email address

No sign-up needed. You'll download your spreadsheet from this page as an Excel file, which also opens in Google Sheets or Numbers.

We never ask for your child's name or birth date. It is a short list of choices.

Your questionnaire is used to build this spreadsheet. We keep your email, your consent and your ZIP code, as our Privacy Policy describes, and never your child's name, your street address, or sensitive eligibility information.

Questions parents ask

What is the Chicago High School Fit Score?

A free tool from Leto for Chicago families applying to high school through GoCPS, the district's application. You tell us how much each of these matters: distance from home, school size, themes, the kind of school (district, charter or contract), early drop-off, after-school hours, bus and train lines, classroom languages and bilingual services. We score the district's ninth-grade programs on your answers and give you an Excel spreadsheet of up to 50 programs that fit.

Does the Fit Score predict admission?

No. A Fit Score says how well a program fits what you told us. It is not a quality rating, and it doesn’t predict admission or tell you what to rank first. The district decides who gets a seat.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, and there is no account. We ask for your email and add you to Leto’s email list; you can unsubscribe anytime.

Will it tell me my neighborhood high school?

We find your address on the district's 2025–26 attendance boundary map and name the neighborhood high school it shows, if any. We ask you to confirm it in the district’s School Locator.

Which programs are included?

The ninth-grade programs in the district’s 2026 program data. The 2027–28 list is on the district’s application site, so confirm every program there. Programs that a test, an audition, points or a special education plan decide, and programs whose selection the district’s list does not make clear, are listed on their own tab and are not scored. Charter schools that take part in the district’s application are included. A charter school with its own separate application is not.

What happens to my home address?

We use it to measure distance and to find your neighborhood school. To find it on the map, we send it to the U.S. Census Bureau’s free address service. We keep only its ZIP code, and delete the street address once your spreadsheet is built, or if it can’t be built.

How do I use it with the district’s application?

Use it to decide which programs to look at, then check current programs, deadlines and rules on the district’s application site, and list programs there in your family’s own order of preference.

About our information

This list is the district's 2026 program data; the 2027–28 list is on the district's application site. Confirm every program there.
